在90-100℃下慢慢揮發(fā)。幾乎不溶于水（20℃時(shí)，100毫升水中只溶解0.00029g，溶于酒精，丙酮，易溶于、氯仿、苯、、二硫化碳、醋酸戊酯和甲苯等。
測(cè)定水硬度。比濁法中測(cè)定鈣、鎂和鋰。測(cè)定相對(duì)分子量的溶劑。促進(jìn)酸化的活性劑。
商品硬脂酸實(shí)際上是45%硬脂酸和55%軟脂酸的混合物，并含有少量油酸，略帶脂肪氣味。
